"Classroom" has several meanings: First, it refers to the fifteen years that I led a weekly Course in Miracles class; second, it has to do with the insights and understanding of spiritual principles gained in the past forty-five years of my personal studies; and finally, classroom is a metaphor for the mindfulness practices taught in the Course. We learn to give everything in our lives, past and present, a different purpose. The Course teaches: "Despair not, then, because of limitations. It is your function to escape from them, but not to be without them." Thus the painful memories, relationships, and situations that in the beginning seem to imprison us can become a classroom of the mind in which we learn to become lucid dreamers.
There are several collections of writings included in Classroom.
DIVING BELLS:A diving bell is used in deep sea exploration. The “diving bells” collected here are for deep mind exploration. My preferred approach for the weekly ACIM class was to choose a theme and then assemble several pages of Course quotes (and other teachings) that we read aloud and discussed. This topical format allowed us to look deeply at how the theme was showing up in our daily lives. This section contains a collection of the weekly notes—the "diving bells"— that we found most helpful in our study of the Course.
THE SECOND-TEACHER EFFECT:I have observed over the years that the mind devoted to a particular path of study, such as ACIM, tends to block out certain ideas that the ego doesn't want to hear. Then when these exact same ideas come from a "second teacher" using slightly different terminology, the mind lets them in. Thus my weekly class notes often include quotes from various teachers, such as Kenneth Wapnick, Eckhart Tolle, Ezra Bayda, Joel Goldsmith, and Adyashanti. Their writings come from the same Source—the Right Mind—as the Course and thus help elucidate the topic. I believe they can greatly enhance one's understanding of Course principles and process. Some of my favorite quotes are included here.
FIRST TEACHER: For myself and a great many others, Kenneth Wapnick was and remains the "first teacher" of the Course, elucidating its metaphysics and embodying its message of "teach only love, for that is what you are." In this section are writings I have done based mostly or entirely on Ken's workshops and books.
WELLSPRING:As I have gathered materials - songs and class notes and other writings - to put on this website, it was inevitable that more ideas would come, new ways to see and understand. Waters from the creative wellspring of the Right Mind are here.
QUOTATION LIBRARY: Collections of word searches from the Course, along with extended excerpts from the writings of various spiritual sources.
MIND MAP VIDEOS: The Mind Map shows the basic metaphysics of ACIM so that its principles can be applied to the everyday classroom of our lives. In these short teaching segments Resta discusses the process of becoming a lucid dreamer.
